We reserve the right to refuse groups larger than 10 that do not have a reservation.

Museum visitors may explore the Brunk Children’s Museum of Immigration as well as the Swedish American Museum, so long as the Children’s Museum is open to the public. Please note that at times programs may be held in the first-floor gallery that limits access to our temporary exhibit. Please call ahead of your visit to confirm that the gallery will be open to the public at the time of your visit.

Getting Here

5211 N. Clark St., Chicago, IL 60640

The Museum is located in Andersonville, a traditionally Swedish area on Chicago’s north side. The entire community welcomes Swedish Americans and celebrates Swedish holidays. Merchants and residents turn out for the very traditional Midsommarfest, the numerous Christmas celebrations, sidewalk sales, and more. Tourists visit the area continually to sample Swedish food, buy gifts, and visit the Museum.

Public Transportation: Clark Street CTA bus No. 22 and Foster Avenue bus No. 92 stop within 150 feet of the Museum Center. The CTA Red Line EL train stops at Berwyn. The nearest Divvy bike station is three blocks south of the Museum at Winnemac and Clark. Click here for more information about Divvy, Chicago’s bike-sharing system.

Parking: The Museum has limited complimentary parking in our lot a half block from the Museum at the corner of Ashland and Foster. Street parking is also available on Clark Street using City Pay Boxes at $2.00/hour and free parking can often be found on neighboring streets, including Foster and Ashland. Note that parking is free on Sundays in Andersonville.
