Lucia is celebrated on Dec. 13 in Sweden, and we honor this special day along with our Andersonville neighbors. The afternoon begins at the Museum where someone will be crowned this year's Lucia. St. Lucia, wearing a crown of candles with her choir will sing Swedish Christmas carols throughout the neighborhood. After a performance at the Museum, there will be a procession up a candle lit Clark Street to the Christmas Tree on Catalpa Ave. The evening concludes at Ebenezer Lutheran Church where the procession is part of a Christmas concert. This is one of the most special neighborhood holiday traditions.
