Dear members and supporters,
All of us at the Swedish American Museum hope that you, our members and supporters, are healthy and staying safe.
We are all affected by the COVID-19 pandemic and experiencing the situation in different ways and we are especially thankful to the people who are working to get us through this period healthy. We are thinking of the people who work in hospitals, grocery stores, deliveries, and other essential businesses that are producing products for the health industry.
During this time of limited access to public places, the Museum’s income is greatly reduced due to the lack of visitors, school tours and reduced daily regular programs. However, most of our expenses remain. It will cost approximately $50,000/month to cover payroll, the mortgage, and utilities. As regulations have changed the Museum has been able to increase its programming to include both in person and remote events. So make sure to keep your membership up to date.
The Board of Directors of the Museum is fully committed to get us through this period and has made financial contributions to help reduce the financial impact of this closure.
We are now asking you, our members and supporters, to show your support by making a financial contribution.
Your ongoing support of the Museum is very important to us and will keep us all going.
With sincere appreciation,
Elizabeth Peterson, Chair of Board of Directors
Bengt Sjögren, Chair of the Board of Trustees
Karin Moen Abercrombie, Executive Director
At the Swedish American Museum, we pride ourselves in offering a wonderful array of exhibits, events, and programming that honors, celebrates, and educates Museum visitors on Sweden’s past, present, and future. For the Museum to be able to continue to provide these services and unique learning experiences, we need the support of donors like you. Outside support enables the Museum to maintain and expand our current programming, as well as fill the gaps in the Museum’s operating budget not covered by other funding sources.
Thank you for your support and interest in the Swedish American Museum!
