Based in Stockholm, Helena Franzén has been an influential figure in Swedish contemporary dance since the early 1990s. Educated at the University of Dance and Circus in Stockholm and awarded a scholarship to study at Movement Research in New York, she has created numerous works for her own company as well as for leading Nordic dance artists and ensembles. Her artistic practice bridges postmodern dance traditions, embodied knowledge, and choreographic research, resulting in performances that are both intellectually engaging and profoundly moving.

As an educator, Helena is equally respected for her ability to inspire dancers to deepen their physical awareness, spatial sensitivity, and expressive presence. Her teaching draws on decades of choreographic practice, improvisation, and artistic research, inviting movement to emerge with clarity, curiosity, and authenticity.
