It is music at the Museum - wake up your ears, exercise your fingers and play along with us!

Musicians and instructors host a Scandinavian Jam at the Swedish American Museum every month. Join us for an afternoon of traditional roots music starting with instruction from 1 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. New tunes are taught in the call and response “aural” tradition. The afternoon continues with a brief snack, and the jam session kicks off at 2 p.m. Build a repertoire with the unique tones and unusual rhythms of Scandinavia.

Recording devices are encouraged. Bring your instruments, request your favorites, share a tune and play along on what you can, sit back and listen when you want a break.

Make Music Chicago

The June ScandiJam will be part of Make Music Chicago, which is part of Make Music World day:
"Make Music Chicago is a citywide celebration of the musician in us all—performed by anyone, free for everyone.  Every June 21st, Make Music Chicago brings together Chicagoans to celebrate their ability to make music, regardless of age, ability or preferred musical style."
