Join us for a late-summer concert evening with Petter Wahlbäck.

Petter grew up in Sweden playing guitar and drums in rock bands. The music was mostly based on American and British trends. This was after all before the Swedish pop wonder. Some years after moving to Chicago, longing for Swedish culture and music, Petter began to sing and play songs that surrounded him while he was growing up in Sweden.

Petter has since then been exploring the vast area of the Swedish song treasure and has performed his arrangements of these songs around Chicago. Petter plays music ranging from old Swedish folk songs to modern singer/songwriters from Sweden, performed on the traditional instrument of the Swedish troubadour, the nylon-stringed guitar. At the museum concert you will hear music from Cornelis Vreesvijk, Lillebror Söderlundh, Dan Anderson, and many others, as well as hear backstories and anecdotes about the songs and the writers.
