Volunteering

Volunteers have been an integral part of our Museum since our inception in 1976. We wouldn’t be here today if it weren’t for their hard work and dedication! The Museum is always hosting special events, workshops, and lectures providing cultural and educational programming to the community.

Eva Giba cropped“One reason I enjoy working at the Museum is because it keeps me in touch with my Swedish heritage. Many of the objects are familiar to me from my childhood in Sweden. What I really like is working with all the friendly staff and interns. It feels good for me to be around young people with all their energy and enthusiasm.”

We have a variety of volunteer opportunities available to suit different interests:

Are you a history buff? Helping in our “Dream of America” exhibit is a great opportunity!

Do you enjoy working with children? You’ll love volunteering in the Brunk Children’s Museum of Immigration where you can help with field trips and classroom activities!

Do you have retail experience? Then the Kerstin Andersson Museum Store would be more than happy to put those skills to use!

Do you love meeting new people? You’d be a perfect fit for greeting visitors at our front desk!

Are you a student looking to get your start in the museum field? Volunteering is a great way to earn community service credit and gain hands-on work experience!
