Our Genealogy Center is Expanding

GENEALOGY1As part of our 40th Anniversary Campaign, we are upgrading our Genealogy Center with new technology and expanded public access to help our visitors research their history, connect with their roots and discover new family members.

Thanks to the support of our genealogy donors, we were able to reach our goal of $10,000 by Dec. 31, 2016. We also received a generous matching grant of $10,000 from the Olson Family Foundation.

We are looking forward to keeping you posted on our expansion plans, and hope to see you at our new and improved Genealogy Center soon!

Do you have genealogical experts who could be hired to tackle elusive Swedish ancestors in Sweden? I was in your special museum a few summers ago and enjoyed it very much!

Many thanks. PS Budoff is from my father’s line and it is genuine. The family story is that an ancestor was rewarded with the name after a hard fought battle with Russia!!!

Hi Nancy! Thanks for your interest in the Swedish American Museum! We do indeed have researchers available to help you. Please fill out our genealogy center research request form here: https://swedishamericanmuseum.org/2.0/wp-content/uploads/2016/10/Research-Request-Form-fillable.pdf

You may submit the form via email to genealogy@samac.org or fax to 773.728.8870.

  3. I would like to donate to your genealogy center my “Family Tree Maker Register Report” that I compiled for my Nelson (Nilsson) family. They left from Malmo, Sweden and they arrived in Rockford, Illinois area in 1882. The report includes scanned photos, diary, and letters. It will fit nicely in a 1 1/2 inch 3-hole notebook. Please let me know if you would like to have a copy. Thank you.
