March 16 @ 12:00 pm
As a finale of the exhibit “Colors of the North” by sisters Alison Aune and Kirsten Aune, currently on display in the Museum main gallery, there will be a fashion show displaying the colorful fabrics created by Kirsten. Kirsten work with textiles to create patterned and colorful works inspired by Nordic textiles, designs, and symbols. She has drawn their inspiration from her Minnesota-Swedish-Norwegian heritage. As a child she gained an appreciation for her parent’s cultural heritage and their collection of Scandinavian art and design. Kirsten creates hand-painted and silk screen printed contemporary geometric and floral textiles. Each honors their cultural roots and pays tribute to women’s artistic and domestic contributions to material culture.
This event is free with admission and refreshments will be available for purchase.
Reservations are recommended and can be made by calling the Museum or emailing firstname.lastname@example.org
